We’re Proud to Share: Metz Earns EcoVadis Platinum and Joins the Top 1% Worldwide

EcoVadis and what it actually tells you about a supplier

If you work with suppliers, you already know the situation:
More ESG questions. More documentation requests. Less time to figure out who actually has their processes under control.

EcoVadis exists to solve exactly that problem.

It is one of the world’s most widely used sustainability assessment platforms, designed to evaluate how companies manage ESG risks in practice, not just in policies or statements.

In January 2026, Metz A/S was awarded an EcoVadis Platinum Medal, placing us in the top 1% of all assessed companies worldwide.
Not because we say the right things. But because we can document how sustainability is embedded in daily operations.

What EcoVadis actually assesses

EcoVadis assesses the quality of a company’s sustainability management system at a specific point in time.

The assessment covers four areas:
• Environment
• Labor & Human Rights
• Ethics
• Sustainable Procurement

All evaluations are evidence-based and focus on policies, actions, and measurable results at company level.
EcoVadis does not assess individual products or services.

A risk-based and contextual approach

EcoVadis is not a one-size-fits-all framework.

The assessment is risk-based and adapted to each company’s:
• Size
• Industry and business activity
• Geographical footprint
• Exposure to ESG-related risks

This means companies are evaluated on the sustainability topics that are most material to their specific business context.

Metz is assessed under the industry category Wholesale of Other Household Goods, where EcoVadis identifies medium to high risks across environmental management, labor practices, ethics, and supplier management.
These risks determine which topics are activated, how they are weighted, and what level of documentation is required.

Scores, percentiles and why Platinum matters

EcoVadis scores range from 0 to 100 and include a global percentile ranking.

Medals are awarded based on performance compared to all companies assessed in the past 12 months:
• Platinum – top 1%  (99+ percentile)
• Gold – top 5%
• Silver – top 15%
• Bronze – top 35%

Assessments are valid for 12 months and must be renewed.

How we use EcoVadis at Metz

At Metz, EcoVadis is not a badge. It is a working tool.

Our Platinum rating reflects structured, documented work across all four areas, supported by clear policies, concrete actions, and measurable results.
The scorecard highlights both strengths and gaps, which we actively use to prioritise improvements.

Carbon data, backed by more than one framework

Carbon management is assessed under the Environment theme, particularly energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Our documentation is supported by:
• A validated Science Based Target since 2022
• A CDP rating of B received in December 2025

Together, this ensures verified carbon data, clear reduction targets, and consistent year-on-year tracking.
EcoVadis, SBTi and CDP serve different purposes, but they reinforce each other within a structured management system.

No shortcuts involved

Preparing an EcoVadis assessment is not a quick exercise.

It requires coordinated input across ESG, HR, procurement, finance, compliance, and IT.
EcoVadis evaluates sustainability across three pillars: policies, actions, and results – all of which must be documented and verifiable.

That is exactly why the assessment has value.

Continuous improvement, not a one-off

EcoVadis is reassessed annually.
Each cycle builds on the last and supports continuous improvement by identifying where processes, data quality, or implementation can be strengthened.

Why this matters to you as a buyer

Because ESG is no longer just a policy. It is a question of risk.

EcoVadis helps separate documentation from declarations.
When a supplier is EcoVadis Platinum rated, sustainability is assessed against relevant risks, backed by verified documentation, and renewed annually.

For you, that means:
• Less time spent chasing documentation
• Lower supplier risk
• Easier internal explanations
• Fewer unpleasant surprises

EcoVadis does not remove your responsibility as a buyer.
It makes it easier to carry it with confidence.
